Human Connection to Patient Care

Posted on April 12th 2013

From the CEO of BHS:

A major strategic aim of Ballarat Health Services is to be a patient centred organisation. As an organisation we have been progressing down this path for some time but there is clearly still more to be done. Patient centred care involves putting the patient at the centre of our decision making. It involves a partnership with patients, carers and healthcare providers to enable patients and carers to participate in making decisions about their healthcare. To do this involves empathy - the ability to understand and share in the feeling of another. In our busy world of providing healthcare we connect to each other and our patients on a number of levels. In this thought provoking video we are challenged to think about our own definition of patient centred care and the human connection to patient care.
